Interior finish, plastered ceiling or timber
Inside, you can choose a smooth plastered ceiling, ready to paint in any colour to match the rest of your home, or a timber finish for a warmer, more characterful feel. Plastered ceilings tend to suit conservatories used as a bright, functional extension of the home, while timber finishes work well in conservatories designed as a relaxed garden room. Both perform identically when it comes to insulation; this is purely a style choice.
Natural light, VELUX windows
One of the most common questions we get asked is whether a new solid roof will make the conservatory darker. It won’t, provided you plan for light at the design stage. VELUX roof windows can be built into the new roof to bring in natural daylight and ventilation exactly where you need it, whether that’s over a dining table or above a reading corner.
LED spotlights
Because your new roof provides a properly insulated ceiling, it’s straightforward to install LED spotlights as part of the installation. They’re energy-efficient, can be dimmed to suit the mood, and are wired in during the build itself rather than fitted as an afterthought.
